Cllr Robert Gordon-James

Robert has spent a career working in the property industry. He has previously resided in Hartfield where he was also a parish councillor and moved to Groombridge in 2014. Robert has always wanted to use his experience and knowledge to the benefit of the local community and sees the Parish Council as the ideal opportunity to do this.

Penny moved to Groombridge from Tunbridge Wells eleven years ago and loves the village . Wanting to contribute to community life, Penny joined the parish council, using a background in law, and the experience and knowledge gained as a volunteer with Citizens Advice and Samaritans, to support her role as a councillor.

The Proper Officer (Clerk)

The Clerk, Proper Officer – Overall management of the running of the Parish Council’s business. Guides the Parish Council on policy, legal and procedural issues. Manages Parish Council staff and external contractors. Responsible for agendas and minutes for meetings of the Council. Clerk for the Rights of Way Committee and Staffing Committee including preparation of reports for Council and Committees.

Volunteer Admin

Assists with the wide variety of admin tasks which are part of the Parish Council, is involved in the Parish Council’s projects and events, and supports the office team in their roles.

Volunteer Highways Coordinator

Although the Parish Council are not responsible for highway matters many of the questions, queries and complaints that come into the office are highway related. The co-ordinator role is a volunteer role that has been created to assist the Parish Council in understanding and explaining highway issues, to give advice to Councillors and follow up cases reported to East Sussex County Council and their contractor or East Sussex highways.
